Natural skin care products are very fashionable today. The public feel that natural always means good and any one in the marketing world understand this and use it to their benefit. Everywhere you look in the supermarket or pharmacy, you see ‘natural’ skin care products.

The question is; what makes a natural skin care product truly natural? How many times have you witnessed new creams entering the market claiming to be derived from plants, botanicals, or herbs? Sometimes the labels we read are not so cut and dry as we think.

Natural skin care products are becoming more and more fashionable. Research claims the highest consumers of natural skin products are those individuals that are older and have a slightly higher than normal salary. The reasoning of why people use these products is because they believe the natural aspect keeps their skin healthy and free from chemicals.

Many products are derived from natural sources but factually speaking, not everything derived from a natural source means it is natural. Some of the ingredients that make up some well known brands are not naturally produced by a plant but actually the combination of a couple of different products to make up one ‘natural’ product. If there is just one “natural” ingredient in a product the product can be classed as “natural,” because there is no worldwide standard, there is no one to tell you otherwise. It is advised that you should not buy natural skin care treatments based on a fancy label. The label does not tell you if there are any side effects that might harm your skin -just because it is ‘natural’, it does not mean it is good for your skin! Going back to the subject of natural skin care being trendy, sales of these products show that more and more of us are crying out for a product that is not only great on our skin but is also kind to the environment. With additional marketing being put into these brands and with more of the population wising up to their benefits they are a must have on any girls skin care list!
